I'm only trying to run slide.show 2 locally from my machine, first. Then I'll try it from the web. However, when I open the file in Expression Blend 4 and compile it, I get errors that say, "Object reference not set to an instance of an object. I drilled down to the XAML code and it goes to line 4, "<v:SlideDescription x:Name="slideDescription" Opacity="0" />"

Any suggestions on how to get started with this wonderful tool would be appreciated.

Hello, I am a website designer and my client wishes to feed their albums from smugmug to their site. It looks like slide-show 2 is exactly what I need. I down loaded it, but I am completely lost with the instructions on how to install it and use it. Is there help out there as to how to install it and hook it up to the smugmug account? I hope someone can help me. I'm a novice web programmer. I've installed Slideshow 2 and have it up and running with the Light theme. Thanks for the easy installation process! I'd like the Navigation Tray and the Thumbnail viewer to remain visible all the time, not just on mouseover. I've looked through the configuration guide but I don't see any obvious way to do this. Can someone tell me how to do this?

I have rectified the problem. There was an issue in path to the Silverlight object. I was using the path in “ ../ClientBin/Vertigo.SlideShow.xap” format. I changed it to “/ClientBin/Vertigo.SlideShow.xap”. It is working now.

I am facing a problem in my asp.net application. It’s not working with “ASP.net 4.0: URL Routing”. I have a page named “product.aspx”. If the page opens directly, the control will work perfectly. But control is not visible, if I open the page through URL Routing.

Please help.

Hi,

due to security reasons it is not possible to start any Silverlight app in fullscreen mode without user interaction - so no one can fake a login screen...

I've been having a lot of trouble trying to figure out the new Slide.Show 2. It'm confused as to how to change the colors on the slideshow design. In the old version I was able to get colors to show but this version I really need help. Thanks if someone can put me in the right direction.

Hi! I just downloaded and confugured the slideshow using xml. It's awesome but I have one problem: it doesn't display foreign characters (i.e. á,é,ö,ő,etc.). I need to use those letters. What can I do?

I started using SlideShow2 for the first time this morning and have spent the better part of a day dealing with this issue. I have finally landed here and I am wondering if 17 months later there is an answer to Frank's question. It might be useful to add that I am using Web Expression (3 this morning with an upgrade to 4 this afternoon). To preview Silverlight I need to change the file extension to aspx and run on the localhost development server. Do you think that this might be part of the problem?

If it was me, I might try to call the

method again (as seen in App.xaml.cs) when the last slide is reached while the slideshow is actually running (in "play" mode).

But... that might get annoying, or confusing if someone manually clicks on the last slide and doesn't expect the source to refresh itself.

What you might want to do instead is add a button to the player (call it "refresh" or something, and add a little pop-up tooltip to explain what it does) that users can click themselves in order to refresh the slideshow/source.

It seems as if the Slide.Show component only loads data from the XML data source once on start-up.

We're using the component in a web page showing a large album with many slides (a couple of hours' worth of content). During this time, there are services updating the content in the source folders and regenerating the XML data source, but the Slide.Show component never reloads the XML data unless the page gets reloaded. We can't accurately schedule a page reload every X hours because the slide display durations vary and there may be video content in the mix.

The question to the guys knowing the source best is: "How can we get the component to reload its data from the XML data source when it reaches the end of an album?"

Hi. I'm looking around Slide.Show and Slide.Show 2, and it sort of looks like the Javascript API that was in Slide.Show is no longer in 2? Is that correct?

If so, is there an easy way to pass a dynamically-generated data.xml (not configuration.xml) file to Slide.Show? Or alternatively is there an easy way to tell Slide.Show to use a different URL with instead of assuming the file is at /directory/data.xml? I need to pass this info to Slide.Show in a completely dynamic environment, similar to what you'd expect for a CMS or blog engine.

Up Front. I love this project. My company has been looking for the perfect slideshow presentation platform...and this baby is just about "it".

But, for my application, I need to ToggleAlbumView(), which is in the NavigationTray.cs, from a webpage "Galleries" button, instead of the supplied AlbumButton.

I've tried to make the Public NavigationTray.cs accessible by applying the "ScriptableType" declaration. And I've tried to declare the Public method "ToggleAlbumView()" accessible via the "[ScriptableMember()]" declaration.

I put this line of code in the Page.xaml.cs file, immediately after "InitializeComponent();"...

HtmlPage.RegisterScriptableObject("basic", this);

...and I've got an HTML input button on the slideshow page with this definition...

onclick="document.getElementById('Vertigo.SlideShow').Content.scriptableControl.ToggleAlbumView();"

...but it's gotten me nowhere. I see the component initializing on my webpage, but it breaks on registering my scriptable object with...

"Object does not have a ScriptableAttribute or any scriptable members."

Can anybody point me in the right direction? I need a specific tutorial on exposing the C# methods of this [wonderful] Silverlight control, via jscript.
